Just that quickly – it happened
Threats in Georgia just outlined last week have now been upheld by Federal Court in Michigan case. This is an outrage.
Unless this is overturned in the courts, Christians will now be expelled by public universities around the nation for holding a viewpoint that does not agree with the secular/humanist agenda on any subject – period. This is one of the final objectives of the progressive/socialists – drive Christians completely out of society. We need to be on our knees. We also need to become much more active.
Christians by the millions should be in the streets over this. But instead we sit and lament and say “God is in control.” May He instead have mercy on our cowardly souls.
Court Upholds Expulsion of Counseling Student Who Opposes Homosexuality
View PostCould the US really break up?
Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it. Those who ignore trends that parallel history are sticking their heads in the sand and “hoping” (praying) the outcome will be different.
I’m not going to make a big deal out of this, but will put it out there as “food for thought.” What is happening now politically in the United States is not without precedent in the nation’s history. Yet nobody wants to face the fact that the time in history we are developing a parallel to is one of the most difficult periods in the history of our nation – the civil war.
Prior to the civil war, there was a growing distrust between the southern states and the northern states. These tensions were bubbling under the surface for years, as the economically dominate north was gaining in political influence, the south was concerned they would use that influence to oppress the more agrarian south. While the issue of slavery was the catalyst that brought the distrust to a head, in the Federal government’s eyes, the issue of state’s rights vs. the power of the Federal government was the main issue.
Most people believe that the civil war was fought over slavery. That was a secondary issue. The primary issue was whether or not states had a right to leave the union. Could the south seceded and escape the threat of tyranny from the north? Now that I’ve opened that can of worms, let me tell you how that parallels what is developing today.
Fast forward to 2010. We have a growing distrust between Americans based on the fundamental structure of our government at all levels and its role in citizens lives. This distrust has been bubbling under the surface for years, if not decades. It has finally surfaced in the form of the Tea Party and is gaining momentum. As this move toward ideological confrontation intensifies, it is beginning to effect the relationship between states. The catalyst this time appears to be immigration. Interestingly enough, an issue that deals with “human rights.”
Arizona’s passage of tough immigration laws is drawing sharp criticism from Washington. It is also beginning to cause states to divide on the issue. Seventeen more states have legislation proposed that is similar to Arizona’s law. Yet in California the government officials loath the law so much they have called for a boycott of Arizona. Other scattered organizations around the country have done the same. In retaliation, Arizona threatens to cut off power to California. Does anyone else recognize how serious this is becoming?
The Federal government once again is asserting the IT has the right to enforce laws that will supposedly keep all states law on immigration uniform, and by their twisted logic, all American citizens happy. The Federal government does not care for the assertion by states such as Arizona that they have the right to govern their people according to their own standards and the Federal government has little or no say in it. With a growing backlash against Federal government overreach, many who do not necessarily like Arizona’s immigration law are none-the-less supporting its right to do what it has. This intensifies the fact that the main issue today isn’t immigration, it’s state’s rights – again. Immigration, like slavery before it, is simply the catalyst.
The parallels are unmistakable and history tells us these two opposing positions will not coexist. If one believes that another major conflict within the United States is not possible, then one ignores history at their peril. If we could learn from our past, then the real debate – that of states rights vs. Federal government’s rights – would be the central issue debated in the upcoming elections. Instead it appears as though history could repeat itself as the immigration issue (among others) muddies the waters and distracts the politicians from talking about the real issue at hand. Doing so could lead to another very troubling period in American history and a major test of state’s vs. the Federal government.
Illegal immigration – the next hot button issue
Just has has been predicted, illegal immigration will be the next agenda item for the Obama administration. The law that was courageously passed by Arizona will help speed the process. As with any law, it isn’t perfect. There are troubling issues about presenting papers to prove citizenship that must be addressed, and the application of the law will surely be tested.
However, I would like to address a hot button topic that I am sure will ruffle a few feathers. That is the subject of “racial profiling.” This term has been constructed and defined for the sole purpose of hindering the investigation of crimes by criminals. There are some stubborn things called “facts” that people do not want to deal with when it comes to the issue of illegal immigration.
- Fact – The vast, vast majority of illegal immigrants in this nation are Hispanic. 95% plus is a legitimate estimate.
- Fact – Had we been enforcing laws already on the books, we would not have this problem.
- Fact – The illegal immigrants have been draining resources from state and local budgets for decades now. We are in a time economically when we must make the hard choices.
- Fact – United States citizens are granted rights by our Constitution. Foreigners are protected from undue persecution and improper trial, but they are not granted the rights of U.S. citizens.
That brings me to the issue of racial profiling. Let me make my point by an illustration. It isn’t a pleasant one but makes my point.
If we are to use the logic of those who decry using racial profiling in the enforcement of law, then we would have to apply that logic to other physical characteristics that distinguish one group of people from another. Take gender for example. Gender, like race, is something that is easily recognizable (except in some large cities). Now lets say that law enforcement not only is prohibited from using “racial profiling” but they are also prohibited from using “gender profiling.” Hmm…
It is a fact that over 95% of sexual assaults are committed by men. What happens when tragically, a woman is assaulted? She gives a description to police that will help them catch the criminal. But applying the logic of the left and “racial profiling,” she should not be allowed to identify the gender of her assailant. It matters not that she saw him. It matters not that 95% of sexual assaults are committed by men. She cannot name her assailants gender. And police must consider males and females alike when investigating the crime. Rapists would love that law, and I am sure support it wholeheartedly. If practiced, it would hinder their arrest and imprisonment.
Absurd? You bet.
What is the difference then when police are sent to investigate a report of a group of Hispanic men who are working a job site yet have not produced identification that they are legally entitled to work. It needs to be investigated. All information is taken down. But the race of the men cannot be identified. Police must go out and look for them without considering race, despite 95% of illegal aliens are Hispanic (and they could be identified by witnesses as being Hispanic). Hispanic illegal immigrants would love that law (and they do.) If practiced, it would hinder their arrest and deportation.
Absurd? Should be.
In the real world, if such restrictions were placed on law enforcement, (in both cases) they would still use “profiling” to identify suspects. They know the statistics. They know who to look for. Cries of “racial profiling” or “gender profiling” are simply fodder for the criminals to use to hide behind political correctness.
Don’t think for a minute I am equating illegal aliens with rapists other than to make a simple point (yes you lefties, that is the first place you would go with this). The point is this. In both cases, the people are criminals. (people don’t want to hear that about Hispanic illegals, yet it is one of those stubborn facts that “reform” wishes to remedy). In both cases, they have an easily identifiable physical characteristic that drastically shrinks the pool of likely suspects. Identifying that identifiable characteristic is simply good practice.
Both criminals deserve the punishment the law affords. Prison for one, deportation for the other. The latter has the opportunity to do it the right way – apply for citizenship and go through the process if they wish. But they do not want to follow the law. Instead, they want amnesty – forgiveness without consequence. I’m sorry, but to be consistent we would then have to apply that standard to the rapist as well. Maybe not such a good idea after all…
The left wants to assign degrees to the debate to cloud the issue. It is then that their relativistic worldview comes into plain sight. “You can’t compare a rapist to a Hispanic single mom who is just trying to provide for her family!” Yes I can, and I just did. They both have broken the law. While I would feel empathy for the mother and wish to help her through other means to provide for her family (this is where the church should come in) her breaking of the law cannot be accepted.
Right and wrong. Standards. Absolutes. Difficult things to be sure. But necessary for a functioning society.
Obama’s Loyalties Exposed
The upcoming debate on the issue of illegal immigration should prove to be an interesting one. The Obama/Reid/Pelosi axis ignored the will of the majority of Americans and passed Obamacare despite their protests. Watch what happens if/when they ramrod through an amnesty bill. They will have pressed forward with the wishes of a small minority of foreigners (some of whom by the way hoisted their flag above an upside down American flag at a school in California when immigration reform with some teeth was proposed in 2006). What a contrast! The fallout of such a move should be interesting to watch. It will certainly make clear that their agenda and loyalties are not with the U.S. citizen and the Constitution, but rather with the globalists and the interests of the U.N.
Hold the Race Card Lefties
Oh, and by the way, for those who want to label me a racist because of this post? Good luck. I have two adopted Guatemalan sons whom I love dearly. I would not want them to be subject to discrimination based on their race. However, if they are in an area where a crime is committed and their “profile” fits the criminal and if there is reasonable cause to suspect they may have been involved – let the questions be asked. Their innocence would soon be evident.
The agenda of the left is being exposed more and more each day. They are rushing toward the finish line of Marxism as fast as they can run. Has “the great awakening” of the tea party come in time to stop them? In part, that answer depends on your participation. We will know within a few short years.
Jon Voight “letter to America”
This one is making the rounds pretty quickly. You’ve probably seen it. While I agree with much of it, Obama is certainly NOT the first president to weaken America. GW Bush did his part for sure. Also, Voight makes the all too common error of calling our nation a “democracy.” It is a republic. With that said, I give him high marks for calling Obama’s agenda out and naming him a Marxist while he ties him to Saul Alinsky. People need to learn. This will help.
Huckabee shows his stripes as a politician, coddling Clinton’s legacy and tries not to sound “extreme.” Also, pointing out that Voight’s letter was a “personal” plea (that means “don’t think I agree with all of this.”) Huckabee is unfit to lead the Republican party.
Intersting article by Gary North
Gary North makes some interesting observations regarding our current political climate.
“By the time of the election in November 2008, the two stimulus packages were history and the Federal Reserve had more than doubled the monetary base. For the first time since 1914, the Federal Reserve System was under widespread attack by a significant minority of the public.
Then came Obama’s stimulus package. We can date the rise of the Tea Party movement from that event. It has continued to grow. Recent polls indicate that at least 25% of the voters identify with the Tea Party movement or express sympathy with it.”
I am not sure where he gets his 25% number, but those I have seen quoted are in the 30% to 40% range. Either way, his point which follows is significant from a historical perspective. Furthermore, I have seen estimates that up to 60% to 70% of Independent voters sympathize with the Tea Party. Those are the important ones.
“The speed of this development is unprecedented in modern American history. No swing voting bloc this large has ever appeared in a one-year period. This is a Congressional election year. The bloc did not exist in November 2008.
This is the wildest political wild card in modern American history. There is no organizational chain of command. Ron Paul represents its main ideas, but he does not give it marching orders. No one does.”
His last comment is the Tea Party’s strength and weakness. My feel is that it will be a greater strength. If nobody is able to give the party its marching orders, that makes it much more difficult to be hijacked by the Republican establishment and run down the neo-con road.
“Incumbent politicians who are up for election this fall now see what is coming. Their electoral plans have to factor in the Tea Party voters. Even Congressmen in safe districts have to think about what will be the shape of the new Congress in January 2011.
Nancy Pelosi should be making mental plans to turn over her gavel as Speaker of the House.”
Wishful thinking maybe. It will take an act of God to move the House to Republican hands. Strong gains yes, but there are 7 months between now and the election. Watch what tricks the current administration pull out of their hats. Amnesty for illegal immigrants, and a battle with the evil bankers are just a warm up.
“When Ron Paul got 41% of the vote in the Rasmussen poll a week ago, with Obama at 42%, that sent a message to Congress. No sitting House member has ever matched a sitting President in a public opinion poll. That the member has been the lone wolf in the House on spending bills for three decades indicates a monumental shift of opinion in the public’s sentiments.”
This is quite telling. Staying power is what counts. Right now momentum is on RP’s side. If it peaks too soon, that is a problem and has been a mis-calculation of politicians since politicians have been around. It’s tempting to soak up the praise when it comes your way. The MSM would love to have RP flame out.
“Pelosi’s ramrodding operation of Obamacare was the last straw. She was adamant: the voters be damned. This was the same attitude that Congress displayed in October 2008, when it passed the Paulson-Bush bailout bill. Incumbent Republicans were swept out of office in the House in November 2008. The public got its revenge.”
The sweep by Dems in 08′ was about much more than one bill. The independents (and some moderate republicans) bought the messiah’s message of hope and change.
“This November, the public is likely to get its revenge again. The dark cloud, no larger than a man’s hand – Ron Paul’s hand – a year ago has become a thundercloud. It is heading for Washington, D.C.”
Let’s pray he is right. What continues to disturb me is that there is little mention about restoration of this nation to its Judeo/Christian roots. God’s role in this restoration process is largely absent from the patriot commentary. It is there, but often as an afterthought. Get this saying in mind:
Patriots without God will be slaughtered. Patriots with God will not be stopped.
It’s that simple.
Fear not Obamacare explained…
A reader asked me to explain my post “Fear not Obamacare” because they couldn’t listen to the BTR show. Here is the short answer:
Before it is fully implemented (slated for 2014) this legislation has huge obstacles to overcome. Some are beyond the control of the legislators…
1) It is being challenged in the courts on Constitutional grounds. Ultimately this will make it to the SCOTUS. In my opinion, the SCOTUS will side with the Federal Government because it is a branch of the Federal government and if they open the door to limits on Fed power, especially by the states, they know the states will end up limiting their power (SCOTUS) eventually, and they don’t want that.
2) Attempts at nullification by the states will be undertaken. Again, see #1 above for a possible similar process.
3) Absent relief from the courts, some states (at a minimum their citizens) will practice civil disobedience, ignoring the Fed’s demands on Obamacare. The masses will be very vocal in their demands for relief. 912 was just the beginning. This is when things get – shall we say – interesting.
Then there are those things that are beyond the control of the courts and legislators.
4) By 2014, several states will have gone bankrupt, likely taking the Fed government and the US dollar down with them. There will be NO MONEY to pay for Obamacare, let alone Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The US economy will very likely be starting over. Massive Federal government defaults (probably by hyperinflation) will either have had happened or be in the process of happening. This is in my opinion what is most likely to stop Obamacare.
5) There is a possibility of massive social unrest before 2014. It could be in the wake of a collapse of the US dollar or because of backlash to ever increasing Federal tyranny. What this ends up looking like is difficult to say at this point. However, if it turns really sour, then the Federal government will likely be in a major overhaul. This ties to #3 above.
So there you have it. What I believe is the unfortunate probable outcome. No Obamacare, but possibly for reasons that are not pleasant.
Freedom comes at a price. If we are to continue to be free in this country, we must once again step up and pay.
Leftist Lawmakers and The Constitution
What has been exposed on this video is happening all across the nation. The progressives are showing their ignorance of the Constitution and Declaration and the fact they “don’t care” what it says. This is our hope – that while there are many, probably 30% at least – of the population that doesn’t care about the Constitution, there is a majority that once educated will decide they do care. That freedom is more important than safety. That personal responsibility is more virtuous than government handouts.
It is these videos that will awaken those who have eyes to see just how despised the Constitution is by the progressives. Are there enough who care? Is there time to save the nation? We’ll see.
Generations to reclaim freedom – do you believe yet?
Never in our lifetimes has it been so important for Christians to understand what is directly in front of us. In fact, it has been many generations since we have faced the challenges that now lie directly ahead of us.
You see, during the Great Depression, we were asked to suffer through economic hardship brought about after reckless malinvestment based on easy credit and the Fed’s first experiment with the limits of their newly born, yet not mature, fiat money system. The Civil War brought the horrors of war to within our borders. The war was engaged because of deep differences in political ideology on a number of issues, including but not exclusively slavery.
Today, we are moving in the direction of experiencing both of these very difficult circumstances – civil war and economic hardship – simultaneously. We have but a few weeks, maybe as much as a few months, before economic reality begins to set in to the markets. That being the “recovery” that wasn’t, isn’t. I believe that at the current pace of escalation, we have at most three years before some type of Fort Sumtner event happens that could lead to a major outbreak of violence.
I know that some, if not many, readers who have followed this blog for years are not comfortable with my recent observations on the state of the union and its direction. I’m sorry, but I simply cannot water down what is out there in plain sight. In my opinion,
iacta alea est
The die has been cast.
Outside of a supernatural movement of God, the options that are available for resolution of our present situation are becoming very limited. Our present situation being the clash between those who are sprinting to the finish line, trying to secure a “progressive/socialist” United States that will be folded into the New World Order, and those that simply refuse to let that happen without a fight.
My prayer has been, and continues to be, that this battle will remain in the political arena and be fought at the ballot box. However as the tactics used by the progressives become more dictatorial, those who are willing to fight for their freedom are faced with a choice – continue to be backed into an ever darker corner, or begin to signal that their retreat has about reached its limits.
Today, we are seeing that those ready to fight for their freedom are beginning to send their signals. Bricks through windows. Phone threats. Even an alleged shot fired at a Republican Congressman’s office. What the main stream media does not understand is that these are the cries from an abused population. They are warnings given to the oppressors that they are reaching a point of no return. It is one of their last cries for help.
Yet the mainstream media paints these events as the stuff of extremists and domestic terrorists. In fact, there are tens of millions of Americans who can relate to those who committed these acts of desperation while not condoning their actions. They see it as similar to a physically abused child who punches another child during recess or an emotionally abused wife that wrecks the car her husband cherishes more than her. The authorities won’t help, so what are they to do to get people’s attention? What is more, as the months go on, the situation is likely to get even more confusing.
The progressives (including our President), who are disciples of Saul Alinsky, are now fully engaged in Alinsky’s “8th rule of ethics of means and ends.” This is from his book Rules for Radicals, and it reads “the morality of a means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.”
The progressives see imminent victory in front of them. Literally decades of waiting to “fundamentally transform the United States” (Barak Obama on the campaign trail days before the election) is over. Or so they believe. Thus, the kind of dictatorial, no-holes-barred tactics you saw last week to pass health care are justified. It matters not the political, economic or social cost. The ends in this case justify the means because they see victory as imminent. It’s straight out of their playbook.
With this rule fully in effect, I expect nothing short of a continuation of these tactics. Look for amnesty for illegal immigrants to be forced upon the American people over the next few months. Doing so would help the progressives to secure what they feel will be a permanent majority of progressive voters in this nation. Look for increases in “violent attacks” on progressive leadership’s buildings and property. And while some of them will be coming from those who are in that dark corner, many will come from the progressives themselves. That’s right. Crimes progressives denounce as “barbaric and violent” will be perpetrated by themselves in order to demonize their opponents as they can claim the high moral ground. If you think that is rank speculation, you don’t remember what happened in Denver prior to the election. When Democratic offices there had windows broken, it was discovered that the person who did it was, you guessed it, a progressive. Hush hush.
So while this interesting time in history plays out, the Christian community is going to be tested at its very core. They are going to be asked to see through the radical’s tactics and find the truth about what is really happening and who is behind it. They will need to decide – what are appropriate responses to tyranny? What is the appropriate response to oppression? What is the appropriate response to the tactics of a relativistic application of the idea that “the ends justifies the means?”
Tough questions. We need a dialogue. I’ll talk about this on my Blogtalkradio program next Monday at 9 PM CST. We’d better start wrestling with these issues now. The time is soon coming when you will have to choose. Sides will have to be taken. For those of you who say you will remain neutral, inaction and “neutrality” are, and throughout history have always been, tacit approval of the aggressor’s actions. In questions of ethics, freedom, liberty and tyranny, there is no neutrality. Get ready to make your choice. Future generations’ lives will be determined by what you decide.
An update on what I’m doing.
Well everyone, this is my 500th post on this blog. It is fitting as it comes at a time when I am busier than I have been in years. For those of you who still have been checking in here, please forgive me. I’ve gotten involved in a project that has consumed me for the last month.
As you know, this nation is headed for a test of epic proportions. The sham economy is likely to meet reality sometime this year, and that alone will test us like we haven’t been tested before. On top of that, President Obama’s state of the union speech confirmed that we have a narcissistic egomaniac in the White House. Anyone who would scold every person in attendance, from his own party to the military, to the Supreme Court justices is simply not in touch with reality.
These people have to be stopped. And I don’t just mean the Democrats. We are fighting the most evil political machine in the history of the world – because they are intent on world domination.
I have been looking for any way I can get involved with helping to put an end to the madness in our political system. Both parties are part of a single entity moving us toward a socialist/marxist nation. They simply take a bit different path to get there. Our Constitution – created upon biblical principles – has been trampled and ignored.
The good news is there is a growing number of people who are standing to engage this evil. They come in the form of the various patriot groups in the nation – 912 Project, Campaign for Liberty, Young Americans for Liberty, etc. Within these groups I have found there is a tremendous amount of organization happening. It is encouraging to see. However, there is a fundamental problem with much of their work. The political reality is that the candidates they want to elect to office have a large obstacle in their way when it comes to actually being elected.
It is the establishment that is entrenched within the current leadership of both political parties.
This leadership has to go in order to clear the way for constitutionally minded candidates to have any chance of being elected. Why? A large part of the answer is here. (Youtube video)
I have been working very hard with a group of people to get a web presence organized in order to help break down the establishment’s stranglehold on the party leadership structure. This can really work as is evidenced by what has happened in Nevada, where this strategy was implemented and the GOP RINO”s resigned from the party in Clark county (where Las Vegas is) because the “Tea Party” people took over the Republican Party leadership! This will work if enough people get involved, so I am working to make that happen.
So, I will be back. Within a week or two, the web site will be done and I will be back to a normal schedule which will include blog updates and blogtalkradio programs. For now, you can view the site. Just know it will be in development and in flux for the next few days, so don’t expect it to operate perfectly yet!
Thank you for your patience. Your prayers are welcome of course. This is a battle that is bigger than even I imagined. Time is short. We must get in the battle today.
In Christ,
Doug
